FENCE CODES
We are unable to provide copies of building codes due to the frequent changes and modifications that are the nature of building codes. You can contact your local building code department by checking the blue pages in the phone book. Our office can help you with many fence code questions, however, your city inspector has final say on all building code matters.

Here are some guidelines that will work in most cities in Maricopa Country.

Fence must be at least 60" tall measured from the side opposite the pool. All gates must be self closing and latching with a latch that can either be locked or accept a locking devices. All gates must open (swing) away from the pool. No opening in the fence may be larger the 4". Fence may not be placed closer than 24" from the edge of the water. Fence must be at least 24" from any climbable object (ie, rocks, barbecue grills, steps, etc.) on either side of fence. Note that some municipalities measure on a 54" arch, so that if you measure from the top of a step, the top of the fence must be at least 54" away on angle.

Please note that these are simply guidelines to aid you in designing your pool fence and may not be accurate for your location or application. Before you make any definite plans on landscaping or placement of items on your property, be sure to consult with your local building code department.
